The Game:

Setting:

The Old Ways used to be the ways all people’s across this land but over time, these ways are forgotten and buried. Sometimes just the passing of time can consume knowledge, but here in the outer isles of the Halfling Kingdom, it was their genocide of the Gnomish Kingdom before that destroyed their connection to it.

Now only the outer edges of the empire hold on to a semblance of these traditions. Exotic races fill those streets. They were encouraged by Halfling propaganda at a ‘safe haven’. Only to find the Halfling’s xenophobic attitudes only slightly  lessened to them than to the dominant races they are so fond of condemning in the streets. Their lives are restricted to servitude or labor, unless you can make it to the outer regions where the rule of the empire wears thin. They are regions of lawlessness, banditry, skullduggery and all manner of illegal activities. With the islands rich with long forgotten plunder, piracy became a stronghold in this region, along with those searching for the secrets of The Old Ways.

A Halfling by the name of Belgin Fairfurrow Sr had a foot in both. He knew his way around the ship, spoke fluent Parlé and had a reputation proceeding him from his younger days. But he also had a wife, a child, an estate and a small fortune, even if some of it was dubiously attained. But regardless whether he was on the sea, or on land, his mind would always wonder to The Old Ways and the secrets they hold.

He left a note for his son not to follow his footsteps when he dissapeared. Only that he had found a foothold in the The Old Ways. He had found a place not marked on any map, but knew exactly where it would be an island, known as The Drifting Isle. His son, upon reaching age and his inheritance disobeyed his father without a single thought. He found find his father with every scrap of gold he could use, and that’s when Belgin Jr’s trouble’s started, and the crew of The Legitimate Tradeship, found an easy life, or so they thought.
